EpicenterDC is committed to serving our neighbors, near and far. We seek to cultivate caring for others, investing ourselves in ministry projects which make life better for others in our local community and in our world.

"If we looked down at the world from space, we would not see any demarcations of national boundaries.  We would simply see one small planet, just one.  Once we draw a line in the sand, we develop the feeling of 'us' and 'them...'.  In a sense the concept of 'us' and 'them' is almost no longer relevant, as our neighbor's interests are ours as well."

The Dalai Lama (from a sermon preached in New York's Central Park August 15, 1999)

(The Dalai Lama, An Open Heart: Practicing Compassion in Everyday Life.  TimeWarner, New York, 2001, pp. 9-10.)

As a church that owns no building, we seek to be a people without walls.  Our parish is the whole city, from the people in halls of power to those who are in jail, from university students to students in public kindergarten, from mansion-dwellers to street-dwellers - and all the folks in between.  Because Jesus cares for all of these, we are compelled to care.  All are neighbors.  We are about breaking down boundaries between people - learning to learn as sisters and brothers in our diversity of thinking and life experience.  In Christ there is no left or right, no east or west, no black or white or brown.

Listen and watch for opportunities to join us as we go on prayer-walks through various parts of the DC area.  A prayer-walk is a group of people fanning out as pedestrians throughout a portion of the city looking for clues as to where God is present and what God is up to - listening for opportunities where God invites them to roll up their sleeves and join in.
